ETIKK I PRAKSIS Nordic Journal of Applied Ethics
Thematic issue on Crisis and Ethics: Autumn 2009 We are now in the second year of a global economic crisis. This crisis has already had dramatic consequences in the Nordic countries, Iceland in particular, and it is likely to affect people in ways we are yet to fully comprehend. Moreover, governments across the world have responded by initiating counter measures that sometimes entail profound reconsideration of economical policies. Crises, and threats of crisis, challenge our moral intuitions. The financial crisis, the climate threat, actual and potential shortage of food as well as declining energy resources are among the most debated crises in recent years. In this special issue, we invite submissions that focus on the practical lessons that we can draw from these crisis scenarios in a Nordic context. We are interested in micro and macro analyses of, among other things, distribution of responsibility, innocent victims, professional ethics, business culture and corporate social responsibility, violation of trust, just economic world order, and the regulatory role of government.
